My latest mockup,

I don't know if this concept already exists in windows managers, I tried to give the window a 3D feel to it, it is not necessarily for Emerald.

The buttons are just place-holders, there should be more 3D-ish buttons there.

Comments, faves, critiques are always appreciated.

I use buttons in the middle for quite some time now.I love it ! Mac on left,Windows on right,linux in the middle

I've never seen a UI with buttons in the middle. Would be pretty cool to see.

It's not the middle button that impress me more. I really like the 3d idea though I'm not really a fan of the kind. I use to have an xp theme like this but your mockup seem much more interesting.

Anyway If you ever make the theme I prefer the one with buttons on edge...the buttons are really modern in feel
